“To everything (Turn Turn Turn) There is a season” sang Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, and the time has come to lift the LP off the turntable and slip it back into the jacket. This Sunday May 20th will mark the last Acoustic Sunrise on KFOG.

A lot of the music we love is made by mothers. And heaven knows it’s a challenge blending motherhood with life on the road as a practicing musician. Brandi Carlile and her wife Catherine Shepherd take little Evangeline with them while Brandi is on tour, as do many parent/performers these days. You’re as likely to see Tonka trucks and Babar books as bottles of beer backstage these days!

But our air and water are actually much cleaner now, as…

Acoustic Sunrise Sunday March 25, 2018

We clearly have a long way to go. But at least now civic leaders, companies, and citizens are acknowledging the disparity and trying to change the entrenched culture. This has led to an invigorating feeling of hope and accomplishment. We’ll build on that excitement with an (almost) all-female show this Sunday.

It’s St. Paddys, the Day After: Hair of the Dog. With St. Patrick’s Day on a Saturday this year, there may be sore heads Sunday morning! After all, it’s not easy being green. I’ll share lots of celtic-infused tunes and Irish singer-songwriters to get you through. Plus we will salute Stephen Hawkings’ ascension to the…

Acoustic Sunrise Sunday May 20, 2018

“To everything (Turn Turn Turn) There is a season” sang Roger McGuinn of the Byrds and the time has come to lift the LP off the turntable and slip it back into the jacket. This Sunday, May 20th will mark the last Acoustic Sunrise on KFOG.

Join us for a Greatest Hits Fond Farewell, featuring favorites from the show’s 27-year history in San Francisco. It’s one last chance to come together in our little oasis of serenity and toast the future – whatever that may be. With new horizons in my life and our first grandchild on the way, I’m going to take a break…though I don’t rule out popping up again in the future!

And as a lovely parting gift: tickets to two big Bay Area outdoor shows Dead & Co at Shoreline July 2nd, and Robert Plant June 21st at the Greek – listen for when the ticket portal opens!
So stay in touch, and thanks for your ears all these years, your touching and beautifully written emails and cards, your musical ideas, and your support for deriving songwriters.

Take care of your head and your heart, and tune in Sunday for one last spin together (for now!)
