Rhythm runs in the family.

When Cure bassist Simon Gallup wasn’t able to make the band’s gig at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, he sent a replacement – his son.

According to the band, a “serious personal situation” kept Gallup away, but they recruited his “very brave and very excellent” son Eden Gallup to fill in for Sunday’s show.

The recently inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famers thanked Eden for “reaching out across the generational divide to help us out” and promised Simon would return for the band’s remaining summer festival schedule.
