Fall Out Boy announced their newest EP Lake Effect Boy as a surprise yesterday morning, followed by the official release at midnight. The unexpected EP has three songs, one of which, “Lake Effect Kid,” was released in 2008 under CitizensFOB Mixtape: Welcome to the New Administration.

The EP seems to be spurred by their celebration of performing at Wrigley Field, which they referred to as their “biggest homecoming yet.”

This is our love letter to Chicago,” the band tweeted about the EP. And it does feel like a tribute to the city and an ode to their beginnings.

Accompanying the drop, the video for “City In a Garden” featured footage of the band since their start and views of their hometown of Chicago. The band described the video as “a glimpse at all the madness throughout the years,” on Twitter.

The band prepares for their upcoming US leg of the M A N I A tour, where they will share the stage with Machine Gun Kelly and L.I.F.T. They will perform at the SAP Center in San Jose on September 30. Get tickets here.
