June arrives and with dads ‘n’ grads ‘n’ pride, patio parties, and picnics!
The concert season moves outdoors, with the “sheds” (the half-outdoor venues such as the Shoreline Amphitheater and Concord Pavilion) reopening. The Greek season gets underway with Ray Lamontagne and Robert Plant, and the wineries host outdoor shows amid the vines and under the stars; Steve Stills and Judy Collins promises to be a sweet and nostalgic evening at the Mountain Winery.
And KC Turner’s Cookout Concert season on the patio of the charming Hopmunk Tavern in Novato doubles down with performances by Glen Phillips, and former Giants base coach Tim Flannery’s first-rate outfit Lunatic Fringe.
Lots of indoor activity too, including these personal recommendations: Brothers Comatose at the Fillmore, Lord Huron, Trampled by Turtles or Gomez at the Fox, Calexico at the Great American Music Hall, and a homecoming show with Nicki Bluhm at the Independent.
