I’ve been talking about my favorite TV series of 2017 all year. HBO’s Big Little Lies premiered earlier in the year starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Withspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley.
The show starts out with a bang, there’s a murder in Monterey and all we know is a major player dies. However, it takes the entire season to find out who, when, why, where.
Each one of the lovely ladies is not only capable of killing somebody but they’re all potential victims as well. So you’re literally sucked in from the first episode. Let me tell you it didn’t disappoint either!
Big Little Lies went on to get nominated for 16 Emmy’s and won several including best actress for Nicole Kidman, best supporting actor for Alexander Skarsgard, best supporting actress for Laura Dern, best director for Jean-Marc Vallee, and best limited series!!
Obviously everybody wants to do a second season including all of the women involved; Reese and Nicole also produced as well. However, the real issue here is that the season was based on a book and clearly has a beginning, middle, and end.
Well, we have good news their producer, Bruna Papandrea, has announced “I’m not done with these women yet. We’re definitely talking about it and there’s a process but I’m really hopeful”.
Still no word from Liane Moriarty who published the book in 2014. I would love to see her write the screenplay for the next season. She can release the book later, lol!!
