Jay-Z pays tribute to Chester Bennington

Jay-Z paid tribute to Chester Bennington Saturday Night at his V Festival with a performance of “Numb/Encore,” a track off of Collision Course, the hit collaborative rap/rock album Jay-Z did with Linkin Park back in 2004.

The London crowd was ecstatic as Jay-Z addressed the festival:

Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester? Linkin Park, one time, tonight. Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight!

The rapper actually approached Linkin Park initially to collaborate on a rap/rock album and has shown his affinity to the band through tributes and other performances. It really is a unique combination of talent but it’s worked wonderfully. Below is some behind-the-scenes footage of their collaboration on Collision Course.

The set was Jay-Z’s first full performance of 2017 and came one day before the one month anniversary of Bennington’s July 20th death, and he also performed tracks from his most recent LP 4:44.
