Lorde & Jack Antonoff cover Paul Simon at Outside Lands

Lorde and Bleachers’ lead singer Jack Antonoff performed a stripped down acoustic rendition of Paul Simon’s 1972 hit “Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard” Sunday at Outside Lands. The two singers sat comfortably on the edge of the stage, legs dangling and all as Antonoff strummed away and Lorde grinned from ear to ear as she sang the tune with zeal.

As part of a longer 14-song set in the Outside Lands lineup, Lorde performed old hits like “Tennis Court” before she moved on to newer material from her recently released LP Melodrama. Antonoff, who actually co-produced 10 out of the 11 tracks on the album, laughed to himself as he fumbled the lyrics, closing out the cover with a playful modification to the chorus singing, “Me and Ella in Golden Gate Park” in reference to Lorde’s real name and the festival location.
