Local bands set to steal stage at Outside Lands 2017

This weekend, Outside Lands will return to Golden Gate Park for its tenth year of celebrating music, food, and the best of the Bay Area. Among the musical ranks this year are two Bay Area bands that you won’t want to miss. Make sure you add them to your custom schedule!

The She’s are a group of four women who have been making music together since they were in elementary school. In their own words, “their early music is a reflection of their social and musical lives colliding— coming out of a unique perspective for high school students having been tossed into the music industry at such a young age.”

With songs that can be described as 60s pop and surf rock with a punk edge and a 2014 single with self-proclaimed “Beach Boy-esque vocal harmonies,” it’s safe to say that these ladies know how to get a crowd up and moving. Their most recent EP, Dreamers, was released in 2014, but they’ve been a presence in the Bay Area music scene ever since— most recently they headlined The Independent in January. “San Francisco’s favorite all female garage rippers” are sure to bring some electricity to the Panhandle stage at Outside Lands, so don’t miss their set on Sunday, August 13th at 12 pm!

Check out Native SF’s videos for “Dream Girl” (above) and “Be Alright” in anticipation for their Sunday set!

Owl Paws is a folk rock band from San Francisco. They’ve combined the acoustic intimacy of folk music with the driving feel that defines the rock genre to create music that reaches the heart of their audience.

They’ve released one full-length album every two years, and they clearly take pride in creating their best music for each of their releases. The wide variety of techniques and musical elements they feature across their three albums shows what Owl Paws is capable of and how limitless their potential is. Owl Paws’ versatility brings something for everyone in the audience to enjoy, so make sure to catch them on the Presidio Stage on Friday, August 11th and Sunday, August 13th!

Watch Native SF’s City Session with Owl Paws performing “Keep On,” which lead singer Derek Schultz describes as a “wholesome optimistic jam.”
