Halsey joins Charli XCX at Lollapalooza to cover Spice Girls

Charli XCX delighted her Lollapalooza audience by bringing Halsey onstage for a surprise collaboration at the Chicago festival this weekend.

Halsey was not scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza at all, but she joined Charli during her set to perform the Spice Girls’ 1997 hit “Wannabe.”

The two pop stars are scheduled to hit the road together next month, with Charli XCX supporting Halsey on her Hopeless Fountain Kingdom North American tour.

During the set, Charli also confirmed that she is recording a new album, which will feature her recent single, “Boys.” She raved about the music video for the single, which featured cameos by countless famous boys, including Barns Courtney, Dan Smith of Bastille, G Eazy, Jack Antonoff, John Gourley of Portugal. The Man, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, and Vance Joy.

Says Charli, “’Boys’ is my favorite music video I’ve ever made. I just wanna say a big thanks to all the boys involved, for totally embracing and understanding my vision and being excited by the concept.” She adds: “P.S. no boys were harmed in the making of this video.”

She also tweeted out a list of women she’d ideally want to star in a female version of the video.

Halsey and Charli XCX will hit the road in late September for the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom tour and will be performing at Oakland’s Oracle Arena on November 9th.
