No Name and Doug talk San Francisco rooftop bars: the difficulty in having them in the city, what makes a rooftop bar worthwhile, and where to go for the best.

El Techo de Lolinda

This beautiful rooftop bar in The Mission pretty unanimously tops lists for its view, food, and atmosphere. Serving Argentine cuisine with Mexican-influenced fare as well, El Techo offers some of excellent food with plenty of pisco, caipirinhas, and mezcal-mixed drinks to pair.

620 Jones

The giant patio of 620 Jones is filled with fire pits, couches, heat lamps, and overflowing tropical planter boxes. While it might not have the most spectacular views of the city, this spot is more about the upscale yet relaxed vibes and unique space. The menu includes oysters, empanadas, and more.

Dirty Habit

This eclectic whiskey-focused lounge now serves anything from crab dumplings to challah. The drink menu is just as diverse, with a “smoked bohemian cocktail” and a tom yum sour. The fully-heated 50-seat patio with a fire pit and couches makes it a beautiful spot any time of year.

Bluestem Brasserie

The Bluestem patio is technically just the second floor, but it’s outdoors and sits on a roof, so we’ll take it. With a view of Market Street and delicious food and drink, it also earned its way on Thrillist’s Best Rooftop Bars in San Francisco.
