Hi Everyone! Hi there and thank you for looking into the Acoustic Sunrise video–and we are on fire this weekend–so much to talk about on the show this Sunday!
First I got a load of Earth Day songs, and one for the Science March Saturday. I marched down Market Street, and it was encouraging to see how many people still believe in a rational, fact-based approach to reality.
Then: They’ve announced the Monterey Pop 50th Anniversary Festival, which is “Down in Monterey” on the exact same dates of the festival back in ’67… which I was at–I snuck in with a couple of other kids and watched Jimi and Janis from the roof of a horse stable. Monterey Fairgrounds was basically a horse arena.
The 50th celebration June 16-18 is not a recreation; it has a lot modern bands too: Jack Johnson, Head & the Heart, Gary Clarke Jr., Nicki Bluhm, and Norah Jones whose father Ravi Shankar played in ’67.
And some other people who were actually there a half century ago, like Eric Burdon and Phil Lesh representing the dead.
You can win 3 Day tickets all next week–go see how at kfog.com.
All this and a New Mountain Winery Season heating up, and the Strawberry Music Festival too Memorial Day weekend–summer is coming on strong on Acoustic Sunrise this Sunday 6-11am, only on Bay Area’s KFOG!
