Mohawk Movie Review with Dana: “Gold”

Synopsis

Kenny Wells (Matthew McConaughey) is a down-on-his-luck prospector in Reno in need of a big break in the 1980s. He teams up with a like-minded geologist (Edgar Ramirez) and sets off for Indonesia to explore the uncharted jungle in search of gold. They discover their treasure and return home with the largest gold mine of the decade…so we think.

Highlights

Matthew McConaughey gained a fair amount of weight to get into his character and the role, but the result is pretty much…Matthew McConaughey. His portrayal was similar to his brief appearance in Wolf of Wall Street combined with other characters he’s already played. The film is based on a true story about a group of con artists who scammed their way into riches and had potential to be an incredible story. Ultimately, however, the film didn’t give the audience a reason to care.

Rating: 2.3/5 Mohawks
