2) ABOUT THE SONG

“Letter for Delilah”
“Letter for Delilah” is based on a theme that I was finding as I moved from Ohio to California to Minnesota and back to California. The restlessness was inspiring but had its costs. It’s difficult to leave behind the people or places that have had an effect on you, though sometimes it can be the healthiest thing to do. The song is about finding some peace in moving on.

3) BIO
Born in Akron, Ohio, Davis spent his childhood listening to records from his father’s massive collection of rock, soul, and folk. These early influences emerged when he taught himself to play the guitar, and stuck when he began writing his own music in 2003. Davis’s songs blend the populist traditions of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie with the contemporary acoustic soul of Elliott Smith and Amos Lee. It is music boiled down to an organic essence, one based on revelations and shared experience, not showboating.

Davis has independently released four albums since he moved from Ohio to California in 2004. His latest album Winter Midnight was released in November of 2008 as part of the ongoing KFOG series “Conversations with Renee”. The album was recorded and released in San Francisco, but was written almost entirely in Minnesota, where Davis lived for most of 2007.

Davis' wide range of experiences and influences keep his style fresh and steadily evolving, from catchy folk to literate acoustic rock. You’ll feel right at home listening to his smoky, soulful voice—and you don’t have to be from Ohio to appreciate it.

4) WHAT YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO

One of my favorite things about living in San Francisco is going to the local farmers' markets (I usually go to the Ferry Building or Civic Center).  The local food is so great all year round and it's nice seeing things go in and out of season.  There is no seasonality in the supermarket.  It's also a good feeling to pay the farmer directly.

5) UPCOMING SHOWS

I'll be playing at Finnegin's Marin on August 17th @ 8pm.

Also, I'm finishing up a new album which I'll be releasing in San Francisco in the Fall (October or November).  Really excited about this!
