What did you miss on the KFOG Morning Show?

Tuesday, August 19th:

Zem Joaquin of ecofabulous spent time with the gang today, she's got all the hot tips on how to keep your kids toxin free this school year. Plus, the author of "How to Make People Like You In 90 Seconds or Less Nicholas Boothman spent time explaining socially endearing techniques to win folks over.

Thursday, August 14th:
Live + Local in San Jose

Thursday, August 14th:

Rocco DeLuca stopped by the radio station today. He played a brand new song "Nightingale" live on the KFOG Morning Show. He'll have his full band with him this evening as part of the Metro Music in the Park event in San Jose, it's a free show, you should come and hang out.

KFOG PD Dave Benson
brought a couple of new songs this morning too. David Byrne and Brian Eno worked together on another album "Everything that Happens will Happen Today," you can learn more about it on David Byrne's website.

Kings of Leon will release Only By The Night in September but we got to hear it this morning, "Strange Overtones" was the track Benson played.

Wednesday, August 13th:

Greg and Renee spent time on a call with Dana Carvey. We heard a prtion of the interview this monring on the radio, but you can hear the call in its entirety by clicking here. Carvey will be in doing 2 shows next week, on Wednesday (8/20) at Wente Vinyards, and then Thursday (8/21) at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.

Matt Nathanson stopped by this morning. He did a live version of Come on Get Higher, click here to listen.

Matt also hipped us to all his upcoming events, he's playing the San Francisco Outside Lands Festival on August 23rd, The Oakland Art and Soul Festival on Labor Day Weekend and he's got a show coming up at the Warfield in the Fall.

Tuesday, August 12th:

It was a pretty chill morning on KFOG. Jules Leyhe stopped by and played a bit of blues guitar for the gang. Jules is 18, he's a Bay Area guitarist, and most recently Buddy Guy pulled him up on stage at the Mountain winery to play with him. Jules gave the Fogheads a little sampling of what he's capable of. Keep an ear out for him, he's off to Berklee College of Music in the Fall.

Monday, August 11th:

The KFOG Morning Show spent time with Mo Mellady, executive director of Planet Check www.planetcheck.com. Mo spends her days monitering environmental news and hosting a user friendly website that aims to help us all become a little more environmentally proactive in our day to day lives.

And speaking of the environment, the Olympians in Bejing are dealing with harsh air conditions as they compete for the gold - even Ann Killion (SJ Mercury News) sounded a little like a smoker when she called in today. Killion is on the scene to report to KFOG from the 2008 Summer Games. Killion will call in again next Monday.

New Releases Thursday, August 7:

The KFOG crew took a call from Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) this morning. Stewart has put together a 30 Piece Rock Fabulous Orchestra to perform the many songs he has written over the years. His Songbook - Volume 1 CD just came out on Tuesday.

KFOG Program Director Dave Benson brought in some new music, too. Famed songwriter and guitarist Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere have a new album on the recently revived Stax record label - Nudge It Up A Notch. Benson also introduced us to Delta Spirit, the San Diego-based band that loves to use unconventional instruments, such as trash can lids and Orchestral bass drums. Look for Ode To Sunshine on August 26.

Tuesday, August 5th:

Journalist Jeffrey Zaslow called KFOG today. Zaslow was a friend and collaborator of Randy Pausch, the famed 'Last Lecturer.' If you spend a considerable amount of time online it is no doubt you have been introduced you to "The Last Lecture." Click below for to watch the video:

Pausch was a Carnegie Mellon Computer Science Professor who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, needless to say his last lecture held more meaning than most. In the days following the lecture, prior to his death, Pausch and Zaslow worked on the book which has since become a national bestseller.

Paul Salazar our Urban Astronomer spent time with the Morning Show. He talked about the Perseids meteor shower coming our way on August 12th, he recapped last week's solar eclipse. Click here for the webcast from the Exploratorium: http://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/2008/
and he reminded us of all the cool things on his blog.

Monday, August 4th:

Brendan Deegan just put together a fun little book about song lyrics, "More Than Words: Song Lyrics Trivia." The book is chock full o'quizes, and lists, and is just plain old fun. Get more information at www.songlyrics.co.nr

Tim Goodman visits the KFOG Morning Show every Monday, today he talked about a possible remake of "Streets of San Francisco," the start of the NFL preseason, and the Olympic Games. If you missed Tim this morning find him  on our Fogcast Page.  Read Tim's column here
