Check out the Outside Lands line up

Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly, and Starr Hill Presents are thrilled to announce the lineup for Outside Lands 2019. Outside Lands will return for the 12th year to San Francisco’s historic Golden Gate Park on August 9 – 11 for an amazing, delicious, awe-inspiring weekend of music, art and the best culinary experiences the Bay Area has to offer. 3-Day GA and VIP tickets go on sale Thursday, March 28th at 10 am PT at www.SFOutsideLands.com.

As announced last Friday, Paul Simon will return for a special one-off performance as one of the festival’s headliners. Simon has previously stated his commitment to perform only the occasional concert and always in benefit of philanthropic organizations he supports. His passion for environmental protection and ecology are closely aligned with that of the festival, making Outside Lands a natural choice. Simon will donate the entire net proceeds from his performance to local environmental non-profit organization(s) to be announced at a later date.

Also leading the musical charge this year as headliners will be genre-busting duo Twenty One Pilots and Childish Gambino, Donald Glover’s GRAMMY-award-winning alter-ego. They will be joined by pioneering electronic Australian producer Flume, country crossover giant Kacey Musgraves, who swept this year’s GRAMMY awards including taking home Album of the Year,  folk rock favorites The Lumineers as well as Ella Mai, Blink-182, Kygo, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, Mavis Staples, Counting Crows, Bebe Rexha and more.

Outside Lands has once again curated a unique and varied line-up that celebrates the new and old across all genres.

Over the past 11 years, Outside Lands has set new standards for festivals around the world, revolutionizing how music, food and drink can be enjoyed, while maintaining a fundamental commitment to environmental responsibility. Golden Gate Park provides the perfect backdrop for Outside Lands’ world-class culinary and beverage program showcasing the best the Bay Area has to offer alongside a carefully curated lineup.  As the Wall Street Journal noted, “In a crowded calendar of music festivals around the country, Outside Lands has thrived by constantly reinventing itself and capitalizing on San Francisco’s strengths, such as a low-stress vibe and high-quality food.” Outside Lands is simultaneously a true destination festival and a celebration of the region’s best. “There aren’t many better ways to enjoy the San Francisco summer sunshine than in Golden Gate Park, with a Napa red in one hand and a Korean burrito in the other, daydreaming along to a hazy groove from Tycho,” The New York Times said of Outside Lands.

Since its inception, Outside Lands has evolved into a beloved San Francisco tradition and boom for the Bay Area, as thousands of fans from around the world flood the iconic city for an incomparable weekend in one of the world’s greatest green spaces. An impact study conducted in 2018 estimated that the festival generated $66.8 million in economic activity for the city of San Francisco, and $75 million for the entire Bay Area in 2017. The festival also increased incomes by $32.6 million, created the equivalent of 700.4 full time year-long jobs, and paid $9,465,668 in state and local taxes.

For the festival’s inaugural year in 2008, Outside Lands diverted 65% of total waste from landfills. Improving upon those efforts each year, the festival increased their waste diversion rate in 2018 to an impressive 92% and also went “Plastic Straw Free,” donated 1.25 tons of food and introduced more reusable beer mugs and wine glasses. In addition to Outside Lands having the highest waste diversion rate of any music festival in the U.S., it also features a number of dedicated programs entirely focused on sustainability and environmental education:

  • Eco Lands is a dedicated area within the festival footprint that includes the presence of many arts and environmental non-profit partners. The goal is to provide an educational forum for sustainability, showcasing local community organizations and encouraging involvement.
  • Outside Lands Works is a charitable fund created by the Festival that invests in the cultural vitality of the Bay Area through grants to regional non-profit arts and education programs.
  • Refillable Water Program
  • Local and Regional Shuttle Program
  • Plastic Straw Free
  • Free Bike Valet
  • Annual Beach Clean Up Events
  • Farmers Market
  • Flower Lands
