MySpace Loses Every Song Uploaded from 2003 to 2015

Sorry, MySpace. You’re no longer in our Top 8 anymore.

The once extremely popular social media site used to be a huge starting point for artists hoping to break into the music industry. We’re looking at you, Panic! At the Disco and Arctic Monkeys. Nice job. But now, MySpace is just a graveyard of your seventh grade selfies and cringey emo music you wrote with your friends and uploaded to the site hoping to catch Pete Wentz’s attention.

Oh, wait, is that just me?

MySpace recently admitted they have lost over 50 million songs. They said in an official statement, “As a result of a server migration project, any photos, videos, and audio files you uploaded more than three years ago may no longer be available on or from MySpace.”

How do you lose such a large quantity of music just like that? Some have speculated this occurrence wasn’t an accident, but rather MySpace not wanting to be tasked with all the effort it takes to move a bunch of crusty, outdated songs that should probably be just left in the past.

Still, it kinda stinks for all the artists that weren’t ready to be artificially retired; who were still hoping to get a Fueled By Ramen contract.
