Barks and Beers: Take Your Canine Companion to These Dog-Friendly Bay Area Bars

It’s starting to warm up in the Bay, and soaking up the sun on a weekend afternoon with your canine companion on a patio drinking beer can’t be beat! Woof! Here are just a couple dog-friendly bars you should check out.

San Francisco

Lucky 13 (2140 Market St)

This cash-only, cool dive bar is loved by locals and their dogs. Grab a beer and hang out in the small backyard area with your pooch!

Toronado (547 Haight St)

This bar can get a little packed on the weekends, with limited seating and standing room, so it’s recommended you bring your dog on a weekday if you can!

Bloodhound (1145 Folsom St)

Located in SoMa, this cozy bar is a great place to bring your chill pupper while you grab a nightcap. Plus, there’s pool! Maybe you can teach your dog how to play…

El Rio (3158 Mission St)

This fun, popular spot is a perfect place to hang out and grab a drink or two with friends who also happen to be pet parents. Bring your dogs and relax on the garden patio!

East Bay

Lucky 13 (1301 Park St, Alameda)

Just like the Lucky 13 in San Francisco, this spot is super dog-friendly! Dogs can hang out inside or on the spacious back deck while you chat it up with your pals or play some board games.

Prizefighter (6702 Hollis St, Emeryville)

This bar has a shuffleboard, great drinks, and a really cool atmosphere. Not to mention they allow leashed dogs to hang out on the front patio! We’re pretty sure your pup will make so many friends.

Trappist (460 8th St, Oakland)

Along with the awesome selection of beers, this bar also serves food! Come hang out after work and walk your dog over to grab a pint and a bite outside on the patio!

Mad Oak (135 12th St, Oakland)

This spacious, two-story bar is just waiting for you and your puppy pal to swing by! There’s a downstairs patio and an upstairs patio, so your dog will have some room to spread out and take a nap while you de-stress from the day with a drink.

South Bay/Peninsula

Hapa’s Brewing Company (460 Lincoln Ave, San Jose)

Yep! People LOVE this dog-friendly brewery. Come taste all the delicious beer Hapa’s has to offer while petting new canine friends. They even have occasional training classes for owners and their dogs!

Golden State Brewery (1252 Memorex Dr, Santa Clara)

This brewery offers a variety of games and activities like darts, cornhole and board games. Don’t you want to play Monopoly with your dog? Of course you do!

Waterdog Tavern (1015 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont)

If you wanna grab some grub but don’t want to leave your dog at home, come chow down on a tasty brunch at Waterdog Tavern! They have a roomy patio area for your dog to hang out and beg for a couple bites of your meal. You can’t resist!

City Pub (2620 Broadway St, Redwood City)

Kick back with some beers and food as you chill on the patio area with your pooch! They’ll bring water out for your dog so they stay nice and hydrated in the warm Bay Area sun!
