Is the life of an up-and-coming comic as terrible as HBO’s Crashing depicts it to be? Jamie Lee, star and writer on Crashing stopped by the KFOG studios to sit down with me to talk about the show, and whats it’s really like trudging through those first 10 years or so of comedy in the hopes of catching a break.

Jamie opens up about her own experiences thinking she had caught her big break, only to realize nothing had changed for her…until it actually did. Jamie caught that first break on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, but it would be another seven years before she landed the role of Ali Reissen on the second season of Crashing after writing on the show during the first season. Jamie talks about her experience transitioning from the writer’s room to a starring role, and what it’s like working under the direction of Judd Apatow.

Jamie also shares some relationship tips from her book Weddiculous: An Unfiltered Guide to Being a Bride, which she was inspired to write after going through her own hellish wedding planning experience.
