Well, here it is folks: the food trend you thought was blowing over now has a festival.

Somehow, dozens of trucks fit the “50 Shades of Charcoal” theme, making it the first activated charcoal food festival (that we know of). Not bad for a “food” that doesn’t really taste like anything. Why are we asked to celebrate eating what we use to barbeque, you ask?

The event highlights the unscientifically-proven health benefits, like “brightening your smile, rejuvenating your skin, and hampering your most hateful hangovers.”

Choose from Batter Up’s charcoal battered corndogs, Choux SF’s black and white charcoal pastry puffs, Trader Jim’s activated charcoal Dole Whips & Dole Whip floats, WoKitchen’s charcoal BBQ pork buns, charcoal shrimp dumplings, and charcoal egg tarts, and much more.

Drinks at the bar include fresh-squeezed charcoal lemonade, house-made charcoal sangria, and black-tie thai tea. Check out the full list of food and drink on the event Facebook page.

The festival will take place at SoMa StrEat Food Park Sunday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $5.
