Father’s Day can be a difficult day for many people who have lost their father, so it was incredibly inspirational to see Toni Cornell, the daughter of the late Chris Cornell release a song she recorded with her dad yesterday for Father’s Day. The song, a cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”, was released by the 13 year old on her father’s YouTube page with a note that read “I love you and miss you so much. You were the best father anyone could ask for.” Toni ended the note saying “Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 100 times over and I know you would too. Happy Father’s Day daddy, nothing compares to you.”

Toni has unfortunately become quite familiar with paying tribute to lost ones via a song. In August of 2017 she appeared on Good Morning America performing a live rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” to honor her father and his good friend Chester Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park, when he committed suicide two months after Cornell.
