Is there a better job in the world than judging a wine competition? Probably not. San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition judge Joe LaVilla is the man who tasted 100 wines in one day and lived to tell the story! It’s actually not as crazy as it sounds, apparently *SPOILER ALERT* they spit out the wine!

Nonetheless, Joe was an awesome guest with Alicia and I this morning filling us in on all secrets of how the wines are judged, all while walking us through a tasting of two of his favorite wines that both won gold medals at the competition: the De La Montaya Zinfandel and the A to Z Chardonay.

If you want to taste the winners your in luck! The public tasting for the SF Chronicle Wine Competition takes place Feb. 17.
