Sunday is Grammys Night, and I’ll spin acoustic tracks by many of dozens of nominees. I doubt you’ll see any of these folks on the broadcast, since the major awards are dominated this year by rap and R&B, and the Americana, Folk, Roots, and Bluegrass categories are usually delegated to an “awarded earlier” crawler on the screen.
But it’s a good reason to shine the light on some worthy up-and-comers and celebrate their nominations: creative and original bands and songwriters like Father John Misty, the War On Drugs, Jain, Iron & Wine, The National, Eric Bibb, and Dave Alvin. And of course, we’ll salute the rock biggies too, by playing acoustic music in the KFOG Archives by Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and the Foo Fighters.
