Listen: No Name and Kari talk The World Debut of Girls of The Golden West

San Francisco Opera is presenting their World Premiere of Girls of the Golden West featuring music by John Adams (who is local to the Bay Area). This production has been in the making for over four years and the curtain is about to open!

The story follows young people from all over the world who flock to California hoping to strike it rich in the 1850’s but are quickly caught up in their greed and prejudices of a rapidly changing world. The opera features many real-life characters, including Louise Clappe who took on the pen of Dame Shirley and wrote her widely known Dame Shirley Letters. It’s a great way to learn about the amazing culture and history of California.
