New Release Roundup with Alicia and Arthur: Netflix Original documentary unearths lost footage from the set of ‘Man on the Moon’

This week’s New release roundup features one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, an under-the-radar gem, and a documentary about the making of a classic. First off, the stylish action-thriller Atomic Blonde hits DVD after a highly successful run at the theaters and massive critical acclaim. Alicia and I both saw this and for sure recommend it, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart, as it is hyper-violent, almost to Kill Bill levels.

Next, it’s a review of Wind River, this chilling thriller/mystery set on a Native American reservation got rave reviews, but due to its limited release, barely registered at the box office. Alicia liked this one so much she has now reviewed it twice on this podcast! Dana from the Mohawk Movie Review wasn’t really enthusiastic about it,however, giving only a mediocre it a 3.5 out of 5 mohawks.

Lastly, I preview the new Netflix Original documentary about Jim Carey’s portrayal of the late comedian Andy Kaufman in the 1999 movie Man on the Moon. This documentary takes archival, behind the scenes footage from the set and repackages it in a way that shows the far-out lengths Carey went to play the outlandish comedic genius that he idolized. This footage was supposedly kept under wraps by Universal Pictures for nearly 20 years. The fact that they never wanted this to see the light of day makes it 10 times more interesting to me!
