Even though he’s hiding out in Europe, Harvey Weinstein can’t hide for long. Along with over 25+ alleged victims of his sexual harassment, we’re now seeing more Hollywood heavyweights coming out to talk about their disgust with him: Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, and Judi Dench to name a few.

Ben Affleck is a whole other story; he’s already being accused of sexual harassment by Hilarie Burton of One Tree Hill fame. He’s stayed silent so far on the matter.

These stories are sadly familiar: a Hollywood exec with a lot of power trying to force very young women into sexual situations that most of them were afraid to deny for fear their careers would be ruined. I also believe they might have been afraid of physical assault. Mira Sorvino said that her career absolutely stalled after she denied him. And this was after winning an Oscar, mind you.

The audio where Weinstein admits to groping a woman (recorded secretly during an NYPD sting operation) is nothing short of frightening and chilling to listen to. I could barely make it through one listen myself. The woman can be heard saying “no” several times, telling Weinstein that she did not like his advances, making it clear she was uncomfortable, refusing the alcohol he was trying to force on her — and yet, he kept pushing her. He kept ignoring her. He kept insisting that she enter the bathroom with him and watch him take a shower.

Keep in mind, this is tame compared to the alleged rapes that also took place with several different actresses (Rose McGowan is one of the rumored victims). The saddest part of this story is everyone’s fear of speaking up.

Arthur and I talk about similar fears we’ve had. We all have to change the culture by continued dialogue, continued HR policies against sexual harassment, and continued support to the victims by their employers, who are legally required to help.

Be sure to check out the podcast below where Arthur and I talk candidly about our experiences with sexual harassment.
