Ah, sweet September, with sunshine on the sparkling Bay, dark mornings, and early dusk tempering the inland heat. I have some sweet gems on tap this Sunday on Acoustic Sunrise, like Bonnie Raitt’s wistful cover of Joni’s “That Song About the Midway” for the fairs and festivals this weekend, including the Walnut Festival in my Walnut Creek ‘burb, and the Fog Festival (which is usually miraculously sunny) in Pacifica…though maybe not the Folsom Street Fair (“Leather and Lace” anyone)?

And I’ll fit in R.E.M.’s “Find the River” with its September reference while I can, and Jack Johnson’s nod to Buffet’s “A Pirate Looks at 40,” for those of you in the Keys or the Caribbean.

You’ll recognize on the playlist a monster hit song by Adele covered by a man with an acoustic guitar. He’s the guy who wrote it, Dan Wilson. He writes hits for a number of stars, though he’s an outstanding musician in his own right. He’s playing October 21 at the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco.

I’ll throw in some live Grateful Dead to toast Bob Weir for his appointment as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the Social Good, advocating for climate change response and fighting deforestation. Way to go Bobby!

I’m also playing Dire Straits’ “Wild West End,” which is where I’ll be during the October 1 and October 8 shows: I’m off to London to visit family! I will still curate those playlists, but you will have a special guest host both Sunday mornings.
