Off Air With Arthur: Pink Skies, Sales, and Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland

After missing a week of the podcast, I’m baaaaaack with three off-the-radar song picks for your to check out!

Pink Skies

First selection comes from Oakland’s own Arieh Berl AKA Pink Skies. If you’re in the mood for some seriously chilled out and sunny vibes, Pink Skies latest singe (a 6lack cover) “Gettin’ Old” is for you! Pink Skies is a total throwback, oozing 70’s nostalgia and dreamy pop sensibility. The production on this track is top-notch, and the vocals Berl pairs with it fits effortlessly. I’m a bit surprised that Pink Skies is a virtual unknown, with only a couple hundred ‘likes’ on Facebook, and only a smattering of plays on streaming services. Expect to hear more buzz surrounding the Oakland native as he prepares to release a proper album.

SALES

I’ve been hearing a lot of chatter about the Orlando based band SALES for a few years now but never took the time to give them a listen. Holy moly, I was missing out! SALES consists of singer/guitarist Lauren Morgan and producer Jordan Shih who combine to make slightly melancholy pop-rock with impressive melodies. This is another band meddling in relative obscurity, but that should change with the release of the debut album SALES LP. Their new single “Talk A Lot” is stellar! Make sure to catch them when they roll through The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco September 20th.

Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland

I have a love/hate relationship with this duo of weird beards. Some of their songs give me eargasms and I’ll go all day with the song on repeat. Other songs of theirs have me questioning whether or not I’m even listening to music. When they decide to actually make a song, Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland (the duo also goes by the name Hype Williams) produce some incredibly moving music, like “The Narcissist.” Dean Blunt’s vocals leave something to be desired but his production is incredible on this track, and the Russian born Inga Copeland adds gorgeous vocals to this moody gem.
