Foo Fighters Unplugged at BottleRock

Foo Fighters headlined BottleRock’s final day for a two-hour – and two-hour only – set. Napa Valley has a strict curfew policy and any loud music must be cut off by 10 pm. BottleRock enforced that rule when they pulled the plug in the middle of the band’s 1997 hit single, making “Everlong” evershort (skip to 5:20).

At the end of the climactic chorus, the speakers and microphones faded out while Grohl and the band continued to play on silently, the crowd carrying the song as best it could. Frontman Dave Grohl commented that he would play until the end, because “we’ve got too many f**king songs.”

Admittedly, Grohl could’ve been “a little more efficient with his time.” He talked in between songs, had the entire crowd sing Happy Birthday to his wife, and covered Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny” and Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust,” leaving them unable to finish their set. Then again, playing until you’re literally kicked off stage by dead mics is kinda badass. It happened to The Cure back in 2014 as well.

The Foo Fighters had already gotten to play their full set at a surprise Blue Note Napa show Friday night for a total of 150 lucky attendees. Check it out below.

BottleRock will return May 25-27 of 2018.

Am I really in a club with 200 people watching the Foo Fighters performing a The Rolling Stones music?
