Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to produce and star in a biopic about rock n’ roll music producer and founder of the legendary Memphis label Sun Records Sam Phillips. Based on the book Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock ‘N’ Roll, the story follows the man who brought us Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way, which also developed The Revenant and The Wolf of Wall Street, will have a hand in the film.

Also developing in DiCaprio’s wheelhouse? A Captain Planet movie and an adaptation of Erik Larson’s The Devil in the White City.
